About AHSL-Phoenix

Welcome to our 5th year at the Phoenix campus! The entire library staff of AHSL is pleased to continue to extend our digital and print resources and services to students, residents, fellows and faculty at both campuses. In Phoenix you will notice a focus on the use of electronic materials, except in the case of books not yet available in digital format. What is exciting about our digital collections is the fact that our resources will be available to you wherever and whenever you need them, at your fingertips. You will be able to access the world’s knowledge bases via your personal desktop or laptop computer, a PC at your Mom’s house, or one at your local library or coffee shops. Just be sure to always have your UA NetID with you!

Presently, your AHSL Phoenix has a staff of one plus our part-time medical student librarians who cover evenings and weekends, but all Tucson librarians and other staffers are available to help you as they always have been. We look forward to working with you, and to finding ways to make the right information available to you in the format that is most useful to you. Please tell us via text message, email, or phone when you identify something (print or electronic) we can acquire, negotiate for, or make more accessible. We all want to know how to help you as you study, learn and teach. My office and the library are on the second floor of historic Building 1 at 550 East Van Buren, on the east side of the building near the computer classroom on the second floor. Please plan to visit the library, both physically and virtually.

A photocopier/printer is available for UA student use.  Please ask for assistance.  Community visitors should bring a thumb drive to save downloaded files or be prepared to email them to yourself, as printing is limited to UA students, faculty and staff.

Note that the library has the following zones:

  • Main reading room - collaborative and possibly NOT AT ALL quiet zone.

  • Room 1252 - QUIET Zone when not in a class session.

  • The Library Annex is a QUIET Zone near HR and along the Van Buren Road/south side of the building.
