From the Library Director

Gary Frieburger

Welcome to the Health Sciences Library in both Tucson and Phoenix!  In either location, our goal is to help you find the information you need, at exactly the right time, anywhere you happen to be.  And to assist you in developing the information seeking skills you’ll need as busy health professionals in a rapidly changing world.  You can expect from us:

  • Personal attention from our librarians, who can assist you in locating crucial information.  Contact one at Ask a Health Librarian! on our website.  Or come visit.

  • Evidence-based practice instruction embedded in the curriculum.

  • Liaison librarians located in your buildings to serve you on the spot, when the question arises, whether it’s academic, research, or clinically oriented.

  • Tools that streamline your access to information.  For example, check out EBM Search, a locally-developed tool that searches several evidence-based medicine resources simultaneously.  Any ideas for a spiffy tool to improve your access?  Tell us about it.

  • Comfortable space for a variety of studying styles - intense individual work or dynamic group interactions.

  • Food is part of our environment these days.  We offer Java City in Tucson; in Phoenix there are several nearby options to pick up some eats.

  • Ubiquitous Internet access, via the computers in our labs or through connection to the university’s wireless network.

We’re here to help you connect with information. If you can’t find what you need, give us a call. You can contact me at garyf@ahsl.arizona.edu. I would love to hear your comments and  suggestions,

Gary Freiburger, Director
